Why does my Hotmail Email say I have a new message?

I use Hotmail and it says that I have one new, unread message in my Inbox. But, I don't! There are no new messages anywhere. When I do get an actual new message, it goes to 2 new messages. How can I get rid of this phantom new message?

Reply:look through your old messages - you will probably find that you have not read an email from ages ago or you might have accidently marked one of your messages as unread. look back through your earlier pages of emails.





either that or there is a problem with your account. look around and you should be able to find something where you can contact the people at Hotmail and they might be able to sort you out.

Reply:If you have any folders off to the side that are personal, and you moved a message under one of those categories, you might want to check there. I had that for a while before I figured it out.
Reply:I know i have the same problem with Youtube. Just ignore it. It wont harm anything.
